What got me interested in pursuing a career in healthcare
Dr. Richardson’s passion for medicine was born out of his appreciation for the complexity of the human body and his desire to work with people. “I always wanted to have a job where I could interact on a daily basis with all sorts of people,” he says. “I like to do things with my hands; the traditional medical approach of giving a pill and waiting a month to see if anything happens didn’t appeal to me, which is why I enjoy orthopedics so much. You almost instantly get to see the fruits of your labors.”
core beliefs about practicing medicine
His approach to medicine is driven by a desire to truly connect with each patient. “There is a certain way I’m able to relate to and interact with my patients that helps them feel comfortable,” he says. “I enjoy taking the time to explain what my patients are dealing with and how I’m going to help them.”
